A house facing the Mediterranean

Typology: Renovation
Location: Sagunto, Valencia, Spain
97m2 built + 200m2 outdoor spaces
Collaboration with Irene Benet Architect

This house of long and narrow proportion – characteristic of the houses near the sea of this area – presented several criticalities: the interior spaces were small and very divided, the rooms did not have direct air circulation, the living area was divided into three very distant spaces between them and the bedroom and bathroom located in the back yard-built as an addition to the original house-  had no direct access to the house.

During the renovation, we tried to give more space to the living area – exchanging the location with the original sleeping area- and to strengthen the relationship with the outside towards the porch facing the sea. The kitchen space communicates to the dining room with a large opening allowing views towards the sea and the entry of natural light into an area – originally – very dark. The sleeping area faces the rear courtyard allowing you to illuminate and ventilate the rooms very well.

This holiday home has been designed to accommodate two families with children at the same time, which is why it was decided to create two master bedrooms with private bathrooms, a room for children, a large laundry room and very spacious common areas. In the back yard is the staircase -which goes up to the upper terrace of equal size to the house – and faces the street with a large sliding door.
